BELSPO BRAIN HAIOPOLICY Midterm Conference September 10th

September 1 2025

HAIOPOLICY aims to (i) study the socio-economic impact of COVID-19 on households and firms, (ii) document its implications for inequality in Belgium, and (iii) develop policy recommendations to make the Belgian economy more resilient in response to adverse shocks. To do so, the project:

  • provides missing evidence on the impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable groups (both households and businesses);
  • identifies the causal impact of COVID-19 on output, employment, productivity, labor market outcomes, income and consumption patterns;
  • develops an integrated framework that allows for spillovers between production and consumption, and
  • designs optimal (industrial and socio-economic) policies to deal with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and other related supply-driven shocks.

Now nearing the end of the second year of the project, the HAIOPOLICY Team will present an overview of its accomplishments and provide an outline of the road ahead.  Registration for this event is possible by completing this registration form by 1 September 2025 at the latest.
