This article, based on ECARES WP 2022-14, draws lessons from the covid vaccine and vaccination experience for Europe. It highlights the impressive US ‘Operation Warp Speed’ performance in terms of vaccine development and the role played by the European Commission in terms of coordinating vaccine purchases for the 27 Member States. It also evaluates the vaccination strategies pursued by the Member States.
